Roblox mesh size limits explained

·5 min read

Every rejected mesh upload comes down to one of four numbers. Bookmark this page — these are the 2026 limits Roblox actually enforces during moderation.

Triangles per mesh

MeshParts cap at 21,000 triangles. UGC accessories cap at 10,000. Meshlox auto-decimates while preserving silhouette so you never breach the limit.

Texture and material limits

Diffuse textures are limited to 1024×1024 PNG. Normal, roughness and metallic maps share the same cap. Each accessory can carry up to 4 SurfaceAppearance materials.

Bounding box limits by category

Roblox enforces different bounds per attachment type:

  • Hat / Face / Front / Back / Waist / Neck / Shoulder: 4×4×4 studs
  • Hair: 4×5×4 studs
  • Wings (Back): 8×6×2 studs
  • General MeshPart: 2048 studs on any axis

Why bigger isn't better

Roblox streams meshes over the network. A 20,000-triangle hair looks marginally better on desktop and terrible on Quest. Meshlox targets ~6,000 triangles for hair and ~4,000 for hats — the sweet spot for cross-device performance and moderation approval.
