Blender to Roblox workflow

·6 min read

Blender is still the best free 3D editor, but the Roblox export step trips up almost every new creator. Here's the exact settings that produce a clean import — plus when it's worth skipping Blender altogether.

Scale: 1 Blender unit = 1 stud

Set your scene units to Metric with a Unit Scale of 0.28. That maps one Blender meter to one Roblox stud (a stud is ~28 cm).

FBX export settings that work

In the FBX exporter, use:

  • Path Mode: Copy — with the Embed Textures toggle on
  • Forward: -Z Forward, Up: Y Up
  • Apply Scalings: FBX All
  • Object Types: Mesh + Armature only

Or skip Blender entirely

If you're generating with AI, Meshlox exports Roblox-ready FBX with scale, materials and attachments already baked in. The Blender round-trip only pays off if you're doing manual retopology.

Ready to build?

Skip the manual work — Meshlox handles it end-to-end.
